Monday is Catch-Up Day

CATCH UP not KETCHUP!

Monday’s are my day to play catch up: catch up on bills, housework, writing, and anything else that has been neglected all week long.

Catch up days usually include catching up on sleep too, which my body has been needing more of ever since the 2020 Covid Crisis. Why? I don’t know, but I do know I have been getting more and more sedentary the last few years, resulting in stiffer muscles and joints, not to mention my lowered cardio vascular health.

My doctor says “please just take a walk” but my reply is “baby it’s cold outside!” However, Dr. Morris is right – what I really need to catch up on is cardio – and just movement in general!

Exercise is Missing from my Life

In the old days, I worked out, and I worked out hard. Three times a week I worked out to the left of Richard Simmons at his studio in Beverly Hills – SLIMMONS – my happy place when I lived in LA.

If you were a regular at Slimmons, or even an occasional visitor, you know his workouts were tough. In fact the first time I worked out there was before I lived there, and I actually threw up afterward. (my friend who took me, Maria H. remembers that, right Maria?)

Since I worked out up front and to his left (as requested by Richard – that was my spot), I had to be fast, know to get out of his way, and also be mindful of my form since some people could see me better than they could Richard.

I was fit, not skinny, and I could move my (much smaller) butt! Check out the Party of the Pounds Video – you’ll see I was MUCH smaller then. Hey, I am even on the COVER! Was THAT ever a thrill to see when the video came out. WHAT. AN. HONOR!

I MISS MY CARDIO!

I really miss how I felt when I did cardio. I was more flexible, I could move without pain, my breathing was better, and overall I was happier and had more energy. Of course I was 20 years younger; my body is older now plus I have back pain, hip pain, etc.

It’s so easy  to use age and pain as excuses, but the reality is I have body aches and pains BECAUSE  I don’t work out anymore.

So today, I am planning to “catch up” on some much needed movement. I chose do a very hard chore: Dump out, scrub out, and refill all (14) of my cat litter boxes. YIKES that is a chose that will include weight lifting (bags of litter trash, boxes of cat litter), and cardio (as I scrub out the boxes over the tub, dry them off, carry them around, etc).

Let the challenge begin! I’ll check in later to let you know how many I actually completed!

FOODLOG

Brunch

1/2 cup cottage cheese

1 cup mixed fresh fruit

1/4 cup granola

black coffee

Dinner

I decided to make spaghetti again like I did the other night:

Impossible Italian Meatballs

Lots of vegetables – about 2 cups pre-cooked

Spaghetti Sauce – about 3/4 cup

3/4 cup Angel hair pasta

1/4 cup Mozzarella Cheese

1 cherry Hint water

It’s SO delicious and with all the veggies it makes a huge plate and fills me up good!

Snack

I didn’t feel the need to snack today, wow that’s a first. I will eat my usual small apple at bedtime.
