🩺 The State of My Health

More Naps are Needed

To be sure, I am in need of more naps…

Not Only That, But…

Let me tell you, once you hit age 60, things change. Little things at first like you can’t get out of a chair without making a grunting noise. I’ve tried! I have purposely tried to NOT make that noise when going from a seated to a standing position. It is impossible! My center of gravity has changed. I bend down or stoop down to do something or pick up something, like my cat food bowls or to scoop the litter boxes, and I cannot get up.

Acid and Heartburn Have Become the Norm

Also, for the last 2 years or so, I need to take a Prilosec OTC. Every. Single. Day. Whether I eat something spicy or acidic, or I eat bland toast, I get heartburn and reflux if I don’t take a Prilosec daily.

Is That Normal?

No I don’t think so. Plus it’s costly. And I worry, what else is going on in my Microbiome that I don’t know about?

And What About My Old Age?

My friend Reba and I used to joke around that we were ok as long as we could reach around and wipe our own butts, LOL It’s funny/not funny because at age 62, I do worry.

Those things Richard Simmons used to say to us like how important it was to be fit so you aren’t helpless in the nursing home? Well, those years are closer now that I would like to think, and I do want to be able to wipe my own butt! I don’t want to be helpless in the nursing home. Really I never want to need to be in one in the first place.

How About YOU?

  1. Health issues can really be frustrating. I, too, have some issues. Sometimes it really messes, with my eating because I just don’t want to cook because I feel horrible after having a seizure. Then I turn to chicken fingers and fries to settle my stomach. Ugh!
I hope the docs are able to figure your rash out, and that you get some relief from your hip pain.
I never knew you wanted to specialize in helping people with eating disorders….

    1. It was my original dream, Madison. And when I ended up working for Richard Simmons, it was like a dream come true. Apparently working with cats was in my future though, and where my true calling lies.

I have seen 3 doctors for my rash, one in LA and two here. They all say ” huh that’s weird” and shrug… As for the hip, I have to keep that to myself for now. If I tell my MD, it will be a pre-existing condition and even if/when I can afford insurance I wouldn’t be able to get it treated under insurance if we start treating it now. Gotta love our medical care system.
